Hi,

so we did it again, the first release candidate of the upcoming Grml
version 2013.02, code-named 'Grumpy Grinch' was released.

This release brings the Grml tools towards the upcoming Debian
stable release (AKA wheezy), provides up2date hardware support and
fixes known bugs from the previous Grml release.

For detailed information about the changes between 2012.05 and
2013.02 have a look at the official release announcement:

http://grml.org/changelogs/README-grml-2013.02-rc1/

Please test the ISOs and everything you usually use and report back
so we can complete the stable release soon. If no major problems
come up, the next iteration will be the stable release, which is
scheduled for end of February.

regards,
-mika- - for the Grml.org project

Cool!

Was looking forward for it quite a while now. I will try to update
my grml-usb-key as soon as possible and will give feedback if
anything unusual comes up.

Thanks for your efforts!

Hello everybody.

I too appreciate your efforts! One little bug i found in btrfs-tools to
start the suggestions...

when trying to create a filesystem with mkfs.btrfs it fails with:
error checking /dev/sda5 mount status

Searching for this error and reading [1] leads me to think it isn't all
new. The version on the disc is 0.19+20120328-7 the one in sid would be
0.19+20121004-1 and doesn't produce the same problem...

I don't if it would be too messy to get the version from sid as opposed
to wheezy, but it would be nice to have a working version on the
release iso.

I'm still confused with the timeline though as [1] was discussed in
2011! But maybe I encountered another bug...

Going to test some more in the coming days.

Best regards
Ursus

Interesting, seems to be a problem between wheezy userspace and
recent kernel versions because I can't reproduce it on a plain
wheezy system.

We just put btrfs-tools 0.19+20121004-1 into our Grml repository
so we can ship it with the upcoming stable release.

Thanks for the hint, Urs!

subject: grml-2013.02 release (full iso 64/32 bits)

grml-lang,
................

locale-gen,
..................

/etc/default/locale,
..............................

dpkg-reconfigure console-data,
.....................................................

boot parm: lang=xx
...................................

1 - I test this version using in additional parms for boot options lang=br
and keyboard layout of pt_BR (abnt2) is configured automatically ok.

Another test with boot parm=pt (for portuguese of portugal) and keyboard
is configured with correct layout.

After initial load and select q (for running terminal) this is working ok,
but:

my suggestion change in script grml-lang to support all languages that
already comes with grml.

2 - in /etc/debault/locale we could see lots of locale and i think that is
more optimized appear commented entries for languages not used by script
grml-lang or allow initial boot or script choose more languages and
keyboard options.

my suggestion is using locale-gen for recreate only wanted languages utf-8
entries.

3 - in versions 2011-05 and 2012-05 i use [dpkg-reconfigure console-data]
for may possible work with grml in mixed environments where we have support
remote servers with layouts in us international and (us-latin1.kmap.gz), br
portuguese (pt_BR) keyboard layouts (kmap.gz) br-latin1... and br-abnt2...
when we are in server rooms there are lots of racks and different servers
for supporting.

Regards.

I've confirmed that the following all work:

1. Speakup screen reader via software speech.
2. Starting ssh server and connecting via ssh.
3. Serial terminal.
4. Beep at boot prompt and musical tone at end of boot.

Looks like all the accessibility features work fine. The one thing that
still doesn't work is speakup via doubletalk hardware synth. But that is
probably still a kernel problem.

Braille is also working. At least it works with a braille display from
Freedom Scientific.
